Welcome to the Public Libraries section of  WebJunction BC!

British Columbia has 71 public libraries with locations in 243 communities - plus many online services accessible 24/7 to library users with their local library card.

BC also has 6 library federations which help independent local libraries coordinate and deliver library services collaboartively at the regional level.  

BC public libraries are staffed by over 3,500 employess and are supported by approximately 1,400 volunteers.  They are are governed by local library boards made up of almost 700 library trustees, in accordance with the provincial Library Act.

The provincial Public Library Services Branch works with local libraries, as well as provincial and national partners to support the development of libraries in BC and everywhere.

We hope that  WebJunction BC will be an online place for the BC public library community to "explore, connect and learn" with each other - and with colleagues from other library sectors in BC - and across North America.
